Important Business Update: CTA Temporarily Halted

A federal court in Texas has temporarily halted the implementation of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), which mandates that small businesses submit Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reports to the Treasury Department by January 1, 2025. This preliminary injunction prevents enforcement of the CTA until the legal proceedings are resolved. We’ll continue to monitor this situation and provide further updates as necessary.

Complying with the Corporate Transparency Act:

For businesses still preparing for compliance, here are helpful resources:

About the CTA

Step-by-Step Guide for Compliance

New Year, New Required Posters

As we approach 2025, California employers must prepare for new updates to labor law posters. Each year, with new employment laws, updates to required posters are a certainty—and 2025 is no exception. Employers are required to display both federal and state posters at the workplace and ensure remote workers receive the same. For workplaces with at least 10% non-English-speaking employees, posters must be provided in their language. Non-compliance can lead to costly fines.

To help you stay compliant, the California Employers Association (CEA) offers an all-in-one Labor Law Poster, making it easier to meet your obligations. If you haven’t already, order your 2025 Labor Law Poster today. Your receipt serves as proof of compliance until your poster arrives.

Key 2025 Updates Include:

Whistleblower Poster (AB 2299): New whistleblower rights must be prominently displayed in a larger font with the whistleblower hotline number, ensuring compliance starting January 1, 2025.

Workers’ Compensation Poster (AB 1870): The updated poster will include details on employees’ rights to seek legal advice regarding workers’ compensation claims, including information about attorney fees.

Minimum Wage Update: The state’s minimum wage will increase to $16.50/hour on January 1, 2025, and the minimum wage poster will reflect this change.

CEA’s posters are available in English and Spanish, and can be ordered in paper or laminated formats. For businesses with bilingual employees, we recommend ordering two posters to ensure full compliance.

Order your 2025 Labor Law Poster now and stay ahead of these important changes!
